DANNY AND LIZ

For more than two decades, Danny and Liz have served the Church together through worship, creativity, pastoral leadership, and community.

As founders and pastoral leaders of TEMPLE, they share a heart to cultivate a Christ-centered church community where people encounter Jesus, belong to one another, and are formed in His likeness.

TEMPLE has grown from this shared life and calling, and a deepening conviction that worship, creativity, spiritual formation, and everyday life belong together.

OUR STORY

In the early 2000s, Danny and Liz helped cultivate The Sanctuary, a creative worshiping community in San Diego. It became a gathering place for artists, musicians, worshipers, and people longing for an authentic encounter with God.

More than a ministry expression, The Sanctuary helped shape their hearts as shepherds. It cultivated a love for worship, beauty, hospitality, and sacred environments where people could experience God's presence and find belonging.

Those early years planted convictions they would carry for decades: that creativity can be an offering of worship, that community is essential to spiritual life, and that following Jesus involves more than gathering together. It is a lifelong journey of becoming like Him.

These convictions continue to shape TEMPLE today.

A SEASON OF FORMATION

Over the years that followed, Danny and Liz continued serving within the local church through seasons of worship, leadership, discipleship, creativity, and pastoral care.

Danny served in worship ministry, creative leadership, and executive direction, helping shepherd teams, develop artists and worship leaders, and cultivate environments where people could encounter God.

Liz served faithfully in Spanish ministry, nurturing relationships, cultivating hospitality, and helping people find connection, care, and community.

Together, these years deepened their love for the Church and expanded their understanding of what it means to shepherd people. Through seasons of growth, beauty, challenge, and change, God was shaping their character, strengthening their faith, and teaching them the importance of remaining rooted in Him.

Their conviction continued to deepen: worship is more than a gathering, creativity is more than expression, and spiritual formation is more than acquiring knowledge. Following Jesus is a lifelong journey of abiding in Him, becoming like Him, and faithfully living what He has entrusted to us.

These experiences continue to shape the way they lead and serve TEMPLE.

WHY TEMPLE

After more than two decades of serving the Church, Danny and Liz sensed God drawing them into a new season, one deeply connected to the calling He had been cultivating in them for many years.

TEMPLE was born from a desire to shepherd a Christ-centered community where worship, creativity, spiritual formation, and shared life are woven together.

They believe the Church is more than a place we attend. It is a people belonging to Jesus and one another, being transformed by His Spirit and learning to follow Him in every part of life.

Through Sacred Gatherings, Creative Gatherings, and the relationships formed beyond them, their desire is to cultivate a community where people can encounter God's presence, grow in Christlikeness, discover and steward their God-given gifts, and live faithfully in the world.

For Danny and Liz, TEMPLE is not simply a return to where their journey began. It is an expression of what God has been forming in them along the way and an invitation for others to share in that life together.

OUR FAMILY

Danny and Liz have been married for 26 years and are grateful parents to Zion, Melody, and Destiny.

Their life together has taught them that love and formation unfold over time through covenant, presence, sacrifice, faithfulness, and grace.

These convictions shape not only their family, but also the way they shepherd and serve TEMPLE. They believe that the same faithfulness cultivated in everyday life belongs at the heart of a healthy church community.

Their desire is to continue following Jesus, remain faithful to what God has entrusted to them, and make room for others to encounter Him and grow together along the way.
